The Orwell Local History Society

The Society meets once a month from September to April in the School Room adjoining the Methodist Chapel in Town Green Road.  Talks on local history topics are given by a variety of speakers.

The meetings generally start at 8.00 pm. and are usually held on the last Tuesday of each month (Christmas excepted.)  Check on the Village Calendar for the details of each meeting.  In the summer, two or three outings to places of local interest are arranged.

Membership costs £8.00 per year, but non-members are welcome at all meetings upon payment of £1.00.  The Chairman is Sue Miller, and the Membership Secretary is John Holroyd.

The Society does not itself have a research programme, although some members no doubt pursue their own special interests.  A close liaison is maintained with the Cambridge Community Archive Group, whose website link can be found on the Orwell Village website.
